Neven Subotić (Borrusia Dortmund)

Serbia boasts arguably one of the best defenses in the world. Nemanja Vidić from Machester United and Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanović make up the backbone with Borrusia Dortmund standout Neven Subotić. Born December 10th 1988, Subotić has all the qualities of a successful centre back: great marking ability, jumping, heading, as well as a decent amount pace. Since joining Borussia Dortmund in 2008, he has established himself as one of the best and consistent defenders in the Bundelisga, drawing interest from a number of Premiership clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United and City. The defender wasn’t particularly impressive in the 2010 World Cup, as Serbia didn’t play that well as a team, however Subotić’s future still looks bright and he should become a world-class defender in the years to come.
