- Description: One of the best young strikers in the German Bundesliga, Derdiyok joined Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2009, after impressing for Switzerland’s Basel, where he scored 20 goals in 64 appearances. He is a great aerial threat, always dangerous on set-pieces and crosses due to his heading abilities, however he can also use his pace to score goals. The striker scored an impressive 12 goals in 33 appearances for Leverkusen during his first season at the club. Derdiyok is also experienced at the senior national team level, having made 22 appearances (2 goals) for Switzerland, some of which came while playing and impressing at the Euro 2008, where he was the youngest player (aged 19). Derdiyok featured at the 2010 World Cup, playing in all 3 of Switzerland’s games, and although he didn’t score a goal, the striker still impressed, coming close a few times and showing his great potential.
