Gregory van der Wiel (Ajax)

- Full Name: Gregory Kurtley van der Wiel
- Date of Birth/Age: 3 February 1988/Age 22
- Place of Birth: Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Main Position: Right Back
- Description: One of the best young right backs in Europe, Gregory van der Wiel has cemented himself as a first team regular during the past 2 years with Ajax and is looking to do the same right now on the national team level. Starting to play for Ajax aged 19 in 2007, he spent the following year mostly on the bench before breaking out in the 2008-2009 season, getting a lot of starts under Marco van Basten. Impressing with his attacking and defensive abilities, being able to dribble forward while using his pace and tackling abilities to make sure no one gets past him, van der Wiel has played 78 times and scored 8 goals for Ajax as well as made 16 appearances so far for the Netherlands national team. His play at the 2010 World Cup — where he had a few impressive performances — looks to have cemented him at the right back position for the Dutch.
