Game 1:
Netherlands vs Uruguay ![]()
- Winner: Netherlands
- Why: Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben have been playing outstanding as of late and I expect them to be too much for Uruguay. With top scorer Luis Suárez and fullback Jorge Fucile suspended due to cards, talented young midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro out with a right foot fracture, and main defenders Diego Lugano and Diego Godín uncertain to play due to ligament and thigh problems, Uruguay have a lot to make up for. However if Diego Forlán has a truly great game, Uruguay do have a chance, as the Netherlands defense does still look shaky, though main defender Joris Mathijsen coming back from an injury will surely give them a boost.
- Winner: Germany
- Why: Germany have been playing the best football out of anyone as of late and Spain’s attacking nature fits them perfectly. They are lethal on the counter-attack, and even though they will miss Thomas Müller (suspended due to yellow cards), expect Germany to have a lot of chances, as Spain have proven to be vulnerable on the counter when they played Paraguay. However if Fernando Torres finally has a breakout game, he along with David Villa can surely tip the scales in Spain’s favor.
