- Germany: Good attacking game from Germany, they pressed Uruguay and created numerous chances. The defense did look shaky, but just as with most third-place games, teams were looking to attack more. Butt played decent in his first appearance at goal at the World Cup, stopping a few key shots. Offensively, even though Schweinsteiger made a mistake that lead to a goal in the beginning of the game, he did recover and drove his team to win along with the ever threatening Müller. Going forward, this team will only keep improving, as the average age is only a little over 24. Its unclear whether Miroslav Klose (32) will keep playing, but Müller has proved that he is more than capable to take over, and Germany should be competing to win major tournaments for years to come.
- Uruguay: Great attacking performance from Uruguay as well, but they just had too many mistakes at the back. The goalkeeper wasn’t at this best, especially in allowing the second goal, when he misjudged a cross and let it go through to an unmarked Marcell Jansen. Offensively however, Suárez, Forlán and Cavani had a few good chances, with the latter 2 scoring a goal apiece and Forlán hitting the post with the last shot of the game. Going forward its also unclear how long Forlán (31) will keep playing, but with Suárez and Cavani improving, the team should be interesting to watch at the 2011 Copa América.
