Description:
Lyon has a reputation for developing young players, with the likes of Essien, Malouda and Benzema coming through the club over the years. Winner of the Golden Shoe (4 goals) at the 2008 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship while playing for France, Yannis Tafer looked set to become a top striker and Lyon star. However development has been slow for him over the past few years. On loan to Toulouse during the 2010-2011 season, the striker didn’t manage to find the net in 16 appearances (12 as a substitute) and then ended up breaking his leg during the U-20 World Cup. Due to to the injury he wasn’t featured at all for Lyon during the 2011-2012 season. Hopefully that changes in the future, and the talented youngster will be given a chance to keep improving. Tafer has represented the French national team on various youth levels, and is also eligible to represent Algeria and Portugal on the senior level.
