Manchester City have been one the busiest teams in the transfer market, and here is a look at their squad and projection for the upcoming season:
- Players In: David González Giraldo (goalkeeper, free transfer), Aleksandar Kolarov (left back, £16 million), David Silva (left winger, £25 million), Yaya Touré (defensive midfielder, £24 million), Jérôme Boateng (centre back, £10.4 million), Mario Balotelli (striker, £22.5 million), James Milner (right winger, £18 million along with Stephen Ireland), reserve and academy team players
- Players Out: Benjani Mwaruwari (striker, end of contract), Martin Petrov (left winger, free transfer), Valeri Bojinov (striker, undisclosed fee, but rumored to be about £5 million), Sylvinho (left back, end of contract), Stephen Ireland (central midfielder, exchanged as part of the deal for James Milner), Javier Garrido (left back, £3 million), Robinho (striker, £15 million), reserve and academy team players, and those out on loan
- Strengths: Strikers, Manchester City have Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tévez, Roque Santa Cruz and Mario Balotelli up front, which rivals most other teams. Their defense has improved as well with the acquisitions of Boateng and to some extent Touré.
- Weaknesses: Creativity in the midfield, the only 2 really creative players Manchester City have are David Silva and to some extent James Milner.
- Projected Place: 3rd
- Overall: A very strong team, with great players at every position. However they will probably need a few games before everyone gets used to playing together.
