Here is a look at and projection of the 2009-2010 Premiership season’s runners-up:
Players In: Christopher Smalling (centre back, undisclosed fee, but rumored be about £10 million), Javier Hernández (striker, undisclosed fee, but rumored to be about £7 million), Bebé (striker, undisclosed fee, but rumored to be about £7.4 million)
Players Out: Zoran Tošić (left winger, undisclosed fee, but rumored to be about £8 million), reserve team players, and those out on loan
Strengths: Strikers, Wayne Rooney is one of the best in the world, Berbatov can contribute and Hernández along with Bebé look like they’ll have bright futures.
Weaknesses: Central Defense, as it is unclear what form Rio Ferdinand will be in and how Johny Evans and Christopher Smalling will step up. Also Manchester is fielding more youngsters overall and their inexperience can be a factor.
Projected Place: 4th
Overall: They are still a great team with more young players coming up, however they didn’t really sign a lot of players, and all of their veterans are a year older now. Nevertheless as always expect United to really challenge for the title.
