Walter (F.C. Porto)

  • Full Name: Walter Henrique da Silva
  • Date of Birth/Age: July 22 1989/Age 21
  • Place of Birth: Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil
  • Main Position: Striker
  • Description: A very promising striker, Porto’s Walter burst onto the scene during the 2009 U-20 South American Championship. The youngster scored 5 goals for Brazil, becoming the tournaments top scorer while also showing off his pace, finishing, and shooting abilities. A number of clubs, including Manchester United and Porto wanted to sign the talented striker after the tournament, and in late July of 2010 he moved to Porto from former club Internacional (for whom he also scored 4 goals in 18 appearances) for a €6 million transfer fee. He has the potential to become a great striker and should be given some playing time, especially if either or both of current star strikers Falcao and  Hulk leave the club as rumored. If he performs well at Porto, Walter can also surely make the push for a Brazilian senior national team place in the near future.
  • Pros: Pace, Finishing, Shooting
  • Cons: First touch on the ball, Heading can improve
  • Transfer Interest: Medium as he just transferred to Porto
