Here is a look at and projection of the Aston Villa side for the 2010-2011 season:
Players In: Stephen Ireland (central midfielder, exchanged as part of the deal for James Milner)
Players Out: Wilfred Bouma (left back, released), Marlon Harewood (striker, released), Nicky Shorey (left back, undisclosed fee), James Milner (right winger, £18 million along with Stephen Ireland), reserve and academy team players, and those out on loan
Strengths: Strikers, with with Gabriel Agbonlahor, John Carew, Emile Heskey and talented youngster Nathan Delfouneso, Aston Villa have a great offensive line. Their centre backs are also good, with Richard Dunne, Curtis Davies, Carlos Cuéllar, James Collins and talented youngster Ciaran Clark making up the core.
Weaknesses: Right backs, Aston Villa do have Luke Young to cover there, but Habib Beye is not used a lot, so that leaves centre back Carlos Cuéllar as the only other player who can cover at right back. Aston Villa can also use another defensive and central midfielder as the team lacks a lot of cover in those areas.
Projected Place: 7th
Overall: Aston Villa is a good team already, but will need to make a few more signings to rival the top clubs in the Premiership.
