Here is a look at and projection of the Wolfsburg side for the 2010-2011 season:
Players In: Arne Friedrich (centre back, €2 million), Simon Kjær (centre back, €12 million), Nassim Ben Khalifa (striker, €1.6 million), Mario Mandžukić (striker, €8 million), Diego (attacking midfielder, €15.5 million)
Players Out: Rodrigo Alvim (left back, free transfer), Alexander Laas (left winger, free transfer), Jan Šimůnek (centre back, free transfer), Christian Gentner (central midfielder, free transfer), Obafemi Martins (striker, €8 million), Réver (centre back, €3 million), Jonathan Santana (central midfielder, €600,000), Daniel Reiche (centre back, free transfer), and those out on loan
Strengths: Strikers, with Edin Džeko, Mario Mandžukić, Grafite, Caiuby, Alexander Esswein and talented youngster Nassim Ben Khalifa among others, Wolfsburg have a great offensive line. Their centre backs are also great, with Andrea Barzagli, Simon Kjær, Alexander Madlung and Arne Friedrich making up the core.
Weaknesses: Left Backs, as Wolfsburg only really have Marcel Schäfer to cover there. The team does have some youngsters to fill in, however their inexperience could be a factor.
Projected Place: 6th
Overall: Wolfsburg do have a good team and can surely rise higher in the rankings, especially if star striker Edin Džeko stays with the squad and new signing Diego plays well.
